According to an exclusive story covered by ESPN today, Man Utd are now close to securing Dan Ashworth from the St. James Park outfit.
The news source have mentioned that Newcastle have been looking to get a compensation of £20million for the transfer of the 53-year-old and a deal with the Red Devils is on the verge of completion.
Man Utd desperately need to reinforce the squad with key transfers this summer and therefore, the appointment of a new sporting director, who will deal with the negotiations, is pivotal.
Ashworth completed some top deals for NUFC as the likes of Isak, Botman, Pope and Gordon have proved to be quality signings.
He even agreed a deal with AC Milan to secure Italian maestro, Sandro Tonali, for the Magpies but the Azzurri midfielder was suspended in October for ten months.
The international transfer window has officially opened today and the Old Trafford outfit are already linked with a number of quality players.
Hence, Man Utd must appoint Dan Ashworth as quickly as possible so that he can commence the transfer dealings for the club.
