Ronaldo MUFC

Manchester United have completed the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo on deadline day and the return of the superstar playmaker has got everyone excited at Old Trafford.

Juventus confirmed on their official website that the Portuguese international has joined the Red Devils in a deal worth 23 million euros (£20million). The question is, how would Man Utd line up with the Seleccao star?

Transfer: Man United have to agree signing of £35million star

During his first spell at Man Utd and over the years, Ronaldo has mainly played as a winger, particularly on the left flank. Even in the 2019-20 season, the Old Lady mainly utilized him as a left-winger.

However, last season, the 179-capped international played as an out and out center forward and was named the Serie A Attacker of the Campaign after netting 29 goals in 31 starts for the Bianconeri.

In the Premier League, support in the defensive third is required from the wingers and that is why we see a lot of attackers tracking back to defend. Taking into consideration that the veteran will turn 37 in February, it will not be ideal for him to start in the wide attacking positions.

With experience, the ex Real Madrid man has turned into one of the world’s best finishers and he should be utilized in the No. 9 role. Even Solskjaer is of the view that he is more of a striker now (MEN). No Man Utd player has managed to score 20+ goals in the PL since Van Persie last achieved the feat in the 2012-13 title-winning season.

When was the last time Ronaldo scored fewer than 20 league goals? In his last season with United (18) before moving to the Los Blancos (2008-09). Man Utd can surely end the title drought if the superstar attacker scores on regular basis this season.

With his arrival, I think Edinson Cavani would likely warm the bench because Ole normally utilizes a lone center forward in his setup. Unfortunately, the same goes for the in form Greenwood. Here is how Man Utd would line up with Cristiano Ronaldo.
