Transfer: Man Utd offer big fee and contract to sign £60million attacker – Move complicated

According to Sport, the Catalan club have told the 25-year-old midfielder that his salary is unaffordable and he needs to move to Old Trafford or take a considerable pay cut to stay.

A similar story was covered by Marca who claimed that an agreement worth £73million is close and as far as the salary is concerned, it will be difficult for the former Ajax man to accept any reduction to continue.

De Jong earns around £180,000 a week (AS) and in his peak years, it will be hard for him to agree lower wages, especially when Manchester United have already offered a mammoth contract worth £250,000 a week (The Daily Record).

It is further explained why the threat of salary reduction is pushed by Barca to ensure that the player ends up leaving the club.

El Periodico claim that Xavi wants to secure multiple signings but the icing on the cake would be the arrival of Bernardo Silva. The Spanish source mention that the Manchester City star will only be signed if De Jong is sold to the Red Devils.

It is stated that the cash Barcelona will receive from Man United for the Dutch midfielder will be transferred to Man City in order to sign the Portuguese international.

The Old Trafford faithful should remain optimistic. For the latest updates on the transfer saga, watch this space.
