Jose Mourinho assures 24-year-old star to be a key player if he joins

Varane Real Madrid

According to reports from Don Balon (cited by the Manchester Evening News), Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane is open to reuniting with Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.

Raphael Varane has established himself as one of the finest young defenders in Europe since joining Real Madrid from Lens during the summer of 2011 and the 24-year-old has already helped Los Blancos claim a whopping 13 trophies during his time at the club so far.

Despite his clear importance to Madrid though, there have been numerous reports linking Varane with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu and now according to reports, claims are being made that the French international could well end up moving to Manchester United.

Varane is believed to be unhappy at Madrid as he does not feel a valued member of the team and it has been reported that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is currently looking to lure the ex-Lens man to Old Trafford. According to Don Balon Mourinho has assured the 24-year-old he would be an important man if he joins Manchester United.

It was Mourinho who signed Varane for Madrid back in 2011 and the duo are believed to have maintained a strong relationship throughout the past few years.

Now Varane is allegedly open to listening to what Mourinho has to offer for him at United and there is a possibility that the two men could reunite at Old Trafford next summer.
