Mario Mandzukic Croatia

Manchester United have been linked with retired Croatian international Mario Mandzukic for quite some time and the latest reports are intriguing.

According to La Stampa, the Juventus striker wants to sign for Manchester United and has his suitcases ready to move to the Old Trafford club. It is mentioned that Fabio Paratici, who has traveled to London, would accept an offer of a few millions for the veteran.

Similarly, Corriere dello Sport have mentioned that the Old Lady’s sporting director has traveled to London to resolve the future of Mandzukic and inquire about signing Paul Pogba from the Red Devils.

In the summer transfer window, Manchester United opted to let Lukaku and Sanchez join Inter Milan and did not replace them. Now, Solskjaer seriously lacks quality and depth in his strike-force and therefore a proven quality striker must be signed in the winter transfer window.

Mandzukic has proved his worth over the years. He is a decorated star, who has won all the major domestic prizes in Croatia, Germany and Italy. Moreover, he was part of the Bayern Munich squad that lifted the Champions League trophy back in 2013.

Unfortunately, since the arrival of new manager, Maurizio Sarri, the former Bundesliga goalscorer has not played a single game for the Italian champions this term and needs to leave Turin for regular first team football.

Mandzukic has got the quality and experience to improve Man United but it must be remembered that he will turn 34 next year and therefore, signing him would surely be a short term fix.

In your view, should Manchester United secure his signing in January?
