Manchester United fans voiced their opinion after Victor Lindelof put in another solid performance at the heart of the defence. The Sweden international played on the right side of a three-man backline, and he did not disappoint as he made crucial interceptions while keeping Richarlison at bay.
The Red Devils cruised to a 3-0 lead at the back courtesy of goals from Anthony Martial and Ashley Young (2). However, they had few jittery moments in the second-half as Watford made it 3-2 heading before Jesse Lingard summed up the match with a delightful solo goal to notch United’s fourth goal of the night.
For once, Lindelof was not at fault for the goals United conceded, and the Swede was one of the standout performers in a game, where the likes of Romelu Lukaku struggled in the forward department.
Here are the best tweets over Lindelof’s showing…..
Lindelof is starting to show glimpses of the player we hoped Jose had signed. Thankfully Mou has a bit more patience than some Reds online #MUFC

Victor Lindelof has received a lot of stick at the start of his United career, but he’s been excellent the past two games. Long may it continue. #mufc pic.twitter.com/nJ10SG8IXL

Clearly, the trust instilled by Mourinho on Lindelof appears to be paying off with the Swede delivering top-notch performances this month. The central defence has been a problematic position for United with injuries to Phil Jones and Eric Bailly, and the Swede has the opportunity to cement his berth, should he remain unscathed during the upcoming festive period.
Mourinho played with three-at-the-back during the win over Marco Silva’s Watford, and it won’t be a surprise if the Portuguese tactician adopts a similar tactic versus Arsenal at the Emirates on Saturday evening.
