Eager Man Utd want £60million signing done – Face competition next summer

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Manchester United did break the bank to improve the squad in the summer but the results have been woeful as Ole’s men have only earned a single point out of the last twelve.

The baffling fact is that United’s weakest department is their midfield and it has not been reinforced in over three years. Reports are once again linking them with Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips.

Transfer: Man Utd could offer £27million to sign star after major appointment – Report

According to an exclusive report covered by The Daily Star, Man Utd are eager to sign the England international from Leeds United in a deal worth £60million.

The British news source have mentioned that the Red Devils want to get the deal done next summer but they face competition from arch rivals Liverpool, who ripped them apart at the weekend.

The 25-year-old defensive midfielder cum deep lying playmaker has been a top class player for the Elland Road outfit, who are looking to agree a new deal with their prized asset.

Phillips was a key member of the Three Lions squad that reached the final of the European Championships. However, this season, he has been inconsistent and Leeds find themselves in 17th place after 9 league games.

At Old Trafford, there is no one good enough to break play or pull the strings sitting deep in the center of the park. Therefore, in all fairness Man Utd should splash £60million to sign Kalvin Phillips in winter instead of waiting for next summer. What do you think?
