Manchester United are reportedly lining up a move for Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale after Jose Mourinho and executive vice chairman Ed Woodward met up with the players agent.
Bale has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford for some time now and it appears that United are making moves to sign the player next summer.
Madrid are desperate to keep hold of the Welshman but it is understood that the La Liga side would be willing to let their star man leave the Bernabeu should they receive a substantial offer for the player.
According to Spanish media outlet Diario Gol both Mourinho and Woodward met up with the player’s representatives last week and that the clubs official sponsors Adidas are ready to help endorse the move.
Mourinho is said to see Bale as his marquee signing next summer for United and is prepared to pay another world record fee in a bid to land the Welshman.
The forward joined Real Madrid three years ago from Tottenham Hotspur and has since gone on to enjoy a successful stay in the Spanish capital. His ability to not only score goals but provide them as well makes him a real asset for Zinedine Zidane and one which he will not want to lose especially with Cristiano Ronaldo heading towards the latter stages of his footballing career.
Should the new United boss manage to persuade Bale to join up with him at Old Trafford he would be getting undoubtedly one of the greatest players in world football. There are few if any better footballers than Bale in today’s game and he is a player who would more importantly be an improvement to what the Portuguese already has.
Upon his arrival Mourinho stated that he needed specialists in specific areas across the pitch in order to take Manchester United back to the top and in singing Bale he would be getting just that. He wouldn’t be buying a player for the future nor a player whose best days are long behind him he would be getting an established world class footballer who will deliver the goods in the here and now and that is exactly what the Portuguese so desperately needs if he is to be a success at United.
Jose Mourinho’s Old Trafford jigsaw puzzle still has one piece missing and in singing Gareth Bale he may be that missing piece needed to make Manchester United successful again.
