Qatar were able to host the World Cup successfully and have been to able to get major sporting projects but they feel they are losing the “football race” to United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
UAE owned Manchester City have recently won the Champions League, on the other hand, Saudi owned Newcastle have earned CL qualification and the country continues to buy big name players for their domestic league.
So, Qatar wants a piece of the Preimier League, the biggest league in the world that generates the highest revenue and is watched by most people in the Middle Eastern country.
A football agent with contacts in Paris and in the Premier League stated:
“Qatar is tired of PSG and the target now is Manchester United.”
The Spanish media outlet claim Sheikh Jassim will buy Man Utd in a few days and with that deal complete, the Old Trafford club will lead to sign Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain.
The French international may prefer to go to Real Madrid but Ligue 1 club president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, has decided not to sell him to the Los Blancos.
Mbappe scored a hat-trick in the World Cup final and won the Golden Boot in the competition. Moreover, he netted 41 goals for PSG in the recently concluded campaign.
The 24-year-old has won every major domestic prize in France multiple times but the French champions have always failed in the Champions League.
He earns a mammoth salary of around £33.8million a year (The Mail) and El Mundo claim the forward is not willing to sign a new contract to force PSG to sell.
The Les Bleus star could cost 200 million euros. A move to Man Utd will initiate an exciting battle between him and Man City’s Erling Haaland in the PL, similar to the one Ronaldo and Messi had in Spain.
We shall see how the saga unfolds and will keep you updated.
