According to the Mirror, Everton want a £35m deal with Manchester United for Victor Lindelof, but manager Jose Mourinho is unlikely to budge on the 23-year-old given he’s only spend one year at Old Trafford.
New Everton manager Marco Silva has drawn up a list of transfer targets with new Director of Football Marcel Brands and knows Lindelof well from his time managing in Portugal, with the centre-back previously at Benfica.
United aren’t open to selling, however, even if Everton are willing to pay £35m for his signature. Lindelof endured a difficult debut season, making only 13 Premier League starts, but Mourinho isn’t giving up on him yet.
With Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind having uncertain futures at Old Trafford after failing out of favour in the last 12 months, Lindelof will provide depth in defence along with Eric Bailly, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones.
The Swedish international will be at the World Cup this summer and will hope to silence his critics. Lindelof has turned in much better performances for his country than club in the last year, and a strong showing in Russia could boost his confidence to hit the ground running in 2018/19.
