Former Arsenal man Stewart Robson believes that Manchester United could really benefit by signing Gareth Bale from Real Madrid.
Manchester United’s admiration for Gareth Bale has been an open secret for some time now and it looks like the Red Devils could finally stand a chance of signing the Welshman this summer following some stunning developments in recent days.
Real Madrid are currently pursuing the services of Monaco wonderkid Kylian Mbappe and it is believed that Los Blancos will look to sell Bale, preferably to Manchester United, in order to fund a move for the French attacker.
Of course, Bale moving to United this summer is anything but a done deal as there simply too many variables affecting the potentially stunning transfer but former Arsenal man Stewart Robson believes that the Red Devils should seriously consider bringing the 28-year-old to Old Trafford as he would be very suited to Jose Mourinho’s tactics.
He said on ESPN FC, “I think Jose Mourinho wants a wide player, somebody that can go past defenders with the ball. He’s got [Anthony] Martial but he doesn’t really fancy Martial, Martial hasn’t fulfilled his potential so far.
“[Juan] Mata on the other side is injured at the moment but is a player who likes to come infield, [Jesse] Lingard is a runner rather than somebody who is going to go past people with the ball.
“So I think he wants somebody that’s going to open up defences, that can go past people, who better than Gareth Bale?”
