Former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino has stated that the partnership between Manchester United duo Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial is telepathic.
Manchester United continued their strong start to their Champions League campaign with a 4-1 victory away to CSKA Moscow on Wednesday night and the undoubted stars of the show for the Red Devils during the encounter were Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial.
Lukaku scored a brace on the night while Martial scored one and had a hand on all the other goals, with the CSKA Moscow defence simply being unable to deal with the stunning attacking duo.
Former Chelsea attacker Tony Cascarino was left very impressed with the performances of both Lukaku and Martial during the encounter and he hailed the duo’s partnership as telepathic before adding that manager Jose Mourinho has improved the Frenchman a lot this season.
Cascarino wrote in his column for the Times, “It was really interesting to watch Anthony Martial and Romelu Lukaku working so well together. There was almost a telepathic understanding between the two as they tore CSKA apart.
“We all know about Lukaku’s attributes, but I wonder if it will have surprised even Jose Mourinho how much he has improved Martial. Playing off the left wing, the Frenchman likes to have a central target to play balls to, and from whom to feed off.
“It’s a perfect situation for Mourinho as he has two brilliant young talents in Martial and Marcus Rashford fighting to start, and that keeps the standard high and young players hungry. That competition is what all the best clubs have.”
