Former Liverpool striker Karl-Heinz Riedle has warned Arsenal superstar Mesut Ozil not to join Manchester United.
It has been well documented that Mesut Ozil is currently in the final year of his contract at Arsenal and with the playmaker not signing a new deal as of yet, there is a strong possibility that he could leave the Emirates Stadium in January or during the next summer transfer window.
A host of clubs are understandably keenly monitoring the contractual situation surrounding Ozil and there have been strong rumors that Manchester United could make a swoop for the 28-year-old, with Red Devils’ manager Jose Mourinho said to be keen on a reunion with the German international.
A move to Old Trafford could tempt Ozil as well due to the presence of Mourinho as well as United’s capability of challenging for trophies but former Liverpool striker Karl-Heinz Riedle has advised the former Real Madrid star not to join the Red Devils and consider a move back to Germany instead.
Riedle told Omnisport, “Ozil going back to Germany? Who knows. There’s a rumour that he goes to Manchester United. He shouldn’t do it.
“Ozil is a quality player. If you see his skills, it’s just amazing what he can do on the pitch. We would be very happy if he comes back to a club in Germany, for sure. But I’m not his agent so I don’t know where he ends up”
