Former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is prepared to take over the head coach position at Manchester United, should Jose Mourinho be dismissed from his role during the ongoing campaign.

United have endured a difficult start to the Premier League season with defeats in two of their opening three games and this has certainly increased the speculation over Mourinho’s future at Old Trafford.

Amidst this, The Mirror claims that Zidane is ‘very interested’ in the United job and the Frenchman believes he can offer the stability to a squad which is currently in the process of capitulating.

Zidane created history with Real Madrid earlier in May after becoming the first manager to secure three Champions League titles but he nevertheless left the club after failing to receive financial backing.

However, this has not been a concern with United over the years and the former World Cup winner has been impressed with the transfer budget offered to Mourinho and his predecessor Louis van Gaal under Glazers.

At present, the club have given their full support to Mourinho to turn the club’s fortunes around but another setback versus Burnley this weekend would surely pose serious questions regarding the Portuguese’s position.
