Former Tottenham manager, Tim Sherwood has expressed his opinion that Harry Kane might leave the North London team for Manchester United should Spurs fail to win any trophies in the near future.
Kane has already scored an impressive 103 goals in 171 appearances for Tottenham and the 24-year-old has really managed to establish himself as a world class talent over the past three seasons, scoring 20 plus Premier League goals in a row.
In the process, the North London local has transformed his boyhood club Tottenham from a top-6 team to genuine title challengers in a short period of time and this spectacular rise has led him to be chased by elite side such as Real Madrid and Manchester United.
A host of clubs have tried to lure the forward away from Tottenham over the past few transfer windows but the 24-year-old has stayed loyal to his beloved Spurs.
While Kane, who is currently earning £100,000-a-week has resisted temptations to exit North London so far, ex-Tottenham player Tim Sherwood, believes that the England international might eventually be open to a switch away from Tottenham to a top team like Manchester United if he fails to win trophies with Spurs in the near future.
Speaking with Sky Sports, Sherwood said, “There’s only so much loyalty someone can show. Tottenham have been a great club for Harry and he’s been paying them back tenfold. He’s been outstanding over the last couple of seasons, he grew up a stone’s throw from the ground and the kid loves the club.
“But that only lasts a certain amount of time. Then he starts seeing the pound signs and sees the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid or – dare I say it – Manchester United – and then your head gets turned.
“The only way they can keep him is to win something this year. That something might not be the Carabao Cup, it might have to be the league or the FA Cup.”
Manchester United already possess the likes of Marcus Rashford and Romelu Lukaku as their options in the attacking positions but should Kane be available for a transfer, the Red Devils will definitely not hesitate to splash big money on the forward.
The England international guarantees goals and should they sign Kane, United will definitely be a force to be reckoned with in Europe. The prospect of playing both Lukaku and Kane up front is mouthwatering and Manchester United fans will definitely be desperate to see such a move taking place soon.
