Manchester United fans were supportive of Luke Shaw on Twitter despite the club suffering an embarrassing 3-0 Premier League defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Monday night.
United were outclassed by Mauricio Pochettino’s side during the second half which resulted in a comfortable 3-0 triumph for the visitors but Shaw nevertheless came out of the game with another positive performance.
Luke Shaw was terrific last night. Been through a lot with Mourinho and suffered more setbacks than most but says a lot about his attitude he has performed as well as he has whilst others have sulked. #mufc

Defeat is hard to take, but Luke Shaw was absolutely outstanding last night, arguably one of his best performances for #MUFC. The guy received monumental bullshit from the manager and ex-managers over the years but has again proved his doubters wrong. I couldn’t be more proud. pic.twitter.com/grDiT8eEdF

Don’t let that defeat distract you from the performance we’ve just seen from Luke Shaw. He was our man of the match for the second home game in a row flying up and down that left side. Keep it up, @LukeShaw23 – it’s not going unnoticed ??

Shaw doesn't deserve to be on the losing side tonight, he was fantastic.
10/10 performance ?

I'm in love with this season's Luke Shaw. He has been immense, I don't know what is going on but I hope he can stay this consistent and mainly injury-free. Quality.

Shaw has been solid with his defensive duties since the start of the campaign and this has given him the confidence to make overlapping runs whilst contributing towards the club’s scoreline.
At present, Shaw has firmed the left-back position after impressing Mourinho with his workrate and discipline and hopefully, he can remain unscathed through the campaign to make the position his own.
Earlier this year, Mourinho hinted that Ashley Young could remain the first-choice left-back for the 2018/19 campaign but the veteran has not got a start in the role yet with Shaw showing no signs of dropping his performance levels, as of now.
Despite the positives, United succumbed to a second straight defeat which sees them in the bottom half of the standings but hopefully, they can make amends when they face Sean Dyche’s Burnley on the road this weekend.
Shaw at last is starting to live up to his potential, but United still need a ready replacement in case of injury and I don’t think Young is that.
