Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini could make a surprise switch to Ligue 1 with Paris Saint-Germain next summer. The Belgium international is approaching the final six months of his United contract, and he will be free to discuss a pre-contract with a foreign club in January.
According to Le 10 Sport, United are facing the prospect of losing Fellaini next summer with Paris Saint-Germain having expressed an interest in his signature. The French giants are understood to have placed a four-year contract offer for the midfielder, although the salary package has not been specified.
United have a strict policy of offering one-year rolling contracts to players above 30, and they don’t stand much of a chance of matching Les Parisiens in terms of the length of the deal. Nevertheless, the club will hope to restart negotiations which stalled during the month of September.
Fellaini became an influential player in the United ranks during Paul Pogba’s absence with a hamstring problem, but he could not receive an extended role after suffered an injury of his own.
Both players have returned fully fit heading into the festive period, but the Belgian may serve as a regular from the bench unlike at Paris Saint-Germain, where he could replace Thiago Motta in the holding midfield role next term.
