According to Sport, Depay could end up leaving Barcelona this summer and Juventus were hugely interested in signing him.

Transfer: Man Utd would pay £84.8m in three years, offer £192,000-a-week to sign striker – Report

However, the Italian giants have backed off from the deal because the Dutch international has demanded a salary that would make him earn net three million euros more than what he currently gets at the Nou Camp.

As per Football Transfers, the 28-year-old attacker earns around 15 million euros a season i.e. £245,000-a-week.

The Catalan news source have mentioned that the former Lyon man has received a call from the 20-time English champions, who are going to make a move.

It is stated that Depay is waiting for Man United to finalize their offer to secure his signing.

The versatile forward does have much more lucrative offers from other Premier League sides but he does not want to move to a second-tier club and waits for the Red Devils.

The 80-capped international impressed big time in relatively easier leagues like the Eredivisie and Ligue 1. However, he was a flop at Old Trafford in the Premier League and was average in the last year in Spain for Barcelona.

Memphis Depay rose to fame for the Netherlands under Louis van Gaal but even the legendary manager could not get the best out of the playmaker at Old Trafford.

Have your say – Can Erik ten Hag get the Dutchman back to his best?
