However, the major dilemma is that they do not have any money and must make a ‘million-dollar sale’ before the European Championships.
In such a scenario, the route that is gaining more weight is the transfer of Uruguayan international, Ronald Araujo.
Sport claim, Man Utd are ‘on the prowl’ to sign Araujo, whose sale could generate cash of around £69million (80 million euros).
Even German giants, Bayern Munich, are interested in luring the South American center half, who has been a key player for Barca under Xavi.
The Blaugrana have targeted two main signings, Kimmich from the Bavarians, and Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao.
The news source have mentioned that the preferred operations are progressing well but await money for completion.
The money would arrive from a major sale and that could mean the departure of Araujo, who has the quality to reinforce the weak backline at Man Utd.
In the current campaign, the Red Devils have been poor at the back and have let in no fewer than 56 goals in the Premier League.
Man Utd need a top class center back to strengthen the department and Araujo would be perfect. The 25-year-old would have to give up CL football for next season if he opts to move to Old Trafford.
