‘Stupid and Ridiculous’ — Gareth Bale’s agent responds to on-going speculation

The representative of Gareth Bale has deemed the ongoing speculation over the Welshman as ‘stupid’. The Real Madrid ace has been recently linked with a move to Manchester United after Zinedine Zidane refused to guarantee the stay of forward trio Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema beyond the summer.

Bale endured one of his toughest campaigns last term as injuries hampered his chances of securing a regular starting spot. The attacker managed just 27 appearances across all competitions last term while he found himself being benched in place of Isco for the Champions League final against Juventus last month.

With Real Madrid maintaining their interest in Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe, there has been a suggestion that the former Tottenham man could make a Premier League comeback with Manchester United deemed as favourites to pursue his signature.

However, Bale’s representative Jonathan Barnett has dismissed the speculation by defining the rumours as ‘ridiculous’ and ‘stupid, he told BBC Sport: “It’s a ridiculous, stupid story.” Earlier this month, Bale also rebuffed the link citing that he is ‘happy playing‘ for the European champions and talks of an England return could be solely because he is ‘British’.

Despite this, the United’s hierarchy won’t be perturbed by the situation as Jose Mourinho has previously cited that it would be ‘mission impossible’ to land either Bale or Cristiano Ronaldo from the Bernabeu this summer.
