Gary Neville apparently sees Luis Suarez as a Manchester United player, although the Uruguayan is not hugely popular among the Red Devils faithful. The 30-year-old was involved in a bitter row with ex-United star Patrice Evra back in 2011, for which he was banned for eight games with a £40,000 fine.
Despite the incident, Neville still believes Suarez would suit United’s style of play, he told Stretty News TV: “Suarez, even though he played for Liverpool, is a United player. It’s arrogance to say that but he’s fantastic. He scores goals and he’s aggressive.”
The former Liverpool man has become an influential player for Barcelona over the past three seasons, and bringing him to Old Trafford is something of an impossible task. Nevertheless, Neville has urged Jose Mourinho’s side to pursue a player, who could add more flair to the existing squad.
He added: “We can get a lot better. I’d like to see one more flair player in the team. I’d like to see a winger who can beat a man and get everyone on the edge of their seat. I would love to see Griezmann at United. He’s quick, he’s inventive he can beat players he can score goals.”
Neville watched Griezmann in close quarters during his short stint in management at Valencia, and the Atletico Madrid man would definitely suit United playing in his more natural position on the left wing.
The Frenchman currently is currently contracted to Atleti until June 2022, but his £88m release clause is well within the reach of United, who will undoubtedly look to strengthen the squad next summer.
