Gary Neville: Manchester United need to make this signing to complete their squad

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has urged Jose Mourinho to push for another signing before the close of the transfer window. The Red Devils have made good business with the recruitment of Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic this summer, but Neville has called on the manager to add a world-class winger to his ranks.

Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic has been the number one target to bolster the wider position, but negotiations appear to have reached a standstill with United reluctant to match his £48m asking price. Speaking on Sky Sports News, Neville has advised Mourinho to move in for a ‘world class’ winger before the transfer window concludes on August 31.

He said h/t The Mirror: “Is Rashford a wide player? Not really. That is where United could get one world class winger and it would be a complete squad. They have spent a lot of money and there is no excuse for Manchester United not to challenge for the league. They have to challenge this year. Last season was not good enough and it was a big under performance from the players.”

Manchester United made a stupendous start to the new season with a comfortable 4-0 win at home against West Ham United. Romelu Lukaku bagged a brace on his league debut for the club while Nemanja Matic put in probably the best midfield performance under Mourinho’s United reign.

Right now, there is not a desperate need to add a new attacker to the ranks, but the chance to get more crosses in from a world-class recruit would provide an extra dimension for the likes of Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku to score more goals with their physical presence.
