‘Is there anyone better now?’, Gary Neville praises ‘world-class’ save from Manchester United star

Manchester United legend-turned-pundit Gary Neville has praised the performance of goalkeeper David de Gea after he made a ‘world-class’ save during the Red Devils’ 0-0 draw versus Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.

The Spain international faced numerous shots from long-range from the Merseyside giants, but he undoubtedly captured the highlight of the match after he made a terrific block with his leg on a Joel Matip effort.

As a result, De Gea has kept seven clean sheets in the top-flight season, and Neville insists that such performances from the Spaniard will encourage United’s chances of securing the Premier League crown this term.

“Is there anyone better now in the world than David de Gea?. I’m not sure now. Brilliant, brilliant goalkeeper. The save there and the one at Stoke a few weeks ago were absolutely outstanding.  You need that, you need that.  It’s difficult to win things if you haven’t got a good goalkeeper,” he told Sky Sports following the game.

Neville termed the save as ‘world-class’ in the commentary box, and De Gea has undoubtedly got the knack of saving valuable points over the course of the campaign. Manchester United are still two points adrift of table-toppers Manchester City, but the presence of De Gea will be a huge boost, nonetheless, as he is capable of putting in consistent performances through the season.

Manchester United are deemed to be planning contract talks with the former Atletico Madrid man, and the club’s hierachy would surely be desperate to commit De Gea beyond June 2019 after another stellar performance.
