£50million star prepared to agree Man United move – Journalist

Geovany Quenda of Sporting CP

Despite at least one third of the season yet to be played, the current campaign can already be written-off from a Manchester United perspective. The Red Devils have had a historically abysmal season and sit closer to relegation than securing Champions League football for next season. It is best the club starts focusing on the future.

News – Report – Man Utd would be ready to agree £40m asking fee to secure signing

One thing that Man Utd simply cannot afford is to have a similarly poor season two times in the running. For a club as prestigious as the Old Trafford outfit, sporting success is imperative and Ruben Amorim will surely be looking at potential summer signings who can help him build the project that he is trying to build at Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim plays a very niche system and the 3-4-3 formation requires certain kinds of profiles who can thrive in this system. One strategy that could prove to be a catalyst in the Portuguese coach’s project in England is signing players from his former club, Sporting CP, considering they will be familiar with the tactical setup.

Now, as per journalist Ben Jacobs as revealed on YouTube, Man Utd are interested in signing Portuguese teenager Geovany Quenda with the player also said to be keen on making the move to Manchester.

He has mentioned that the Red Devils want to reach an early agreement and try and secure his signature but the two clubs remain apart on valuation. Here is what he had to say:

“Yeah, I think the player (Quenda) is certainly keen on a move to Manchester United, and talks are progressing to see whether something can be pre-agreed ahead of the summer. Manchester United’s valuation is below that of Sporting’s. They feel that the player is worth in the region of 40 million euros, whereas Sporting’s perspective is the number that he should be sold for is closer to the 60 million mark (£50million).”

Quenda might be very young but he created quite the impression under Ruben Amorim during their time together with Sporting CP.

The Man Utd manager used him in a number of positions with the youngster capable of playing as a winger but also as a wing-back in this 3-4-3 setup.

If Man Utd want to sign an early agreement to sign Quenda, they will have to increase their offer to convince the Portuguese club to sell him. Spending £50million on a teenager might not be the best decision from a financial perspective for a club that is in the United’s situation.

Having made a number of poor decisions in recent seasons, time is running out for Man Utd to make amends.

They are a couple of poor seasons away from becoming a bonafide midtable PL club and the upcoming summer could make or break the Red Devils’ future. Let’s wait and see how it plays out going forward.

  1. There’s no denying that Geovany Quenda is a talented versatile young player, but I don’t think Man utd will match sporting’s valuation of the player.
