German outfit keen to do business with Manchester United for 23-year-old defender

German outfit Wolfsburg have reportedly expressed an interest in signing Luke Shaw from Manchester United before this month’s transfer deadline.

The Englishman has struggled to establish himself under Jose Mourinho over the past couple of years but he has nevertheless been a regular feature in pre-season amid the absence of Ashley Young.

According to The Mail, Wolfsburg have made a surprise approach to lure Shaw to the Volkswagen Arena this summer but the left-back is understood to have no plans of parting ways with United this summer.

Shaw has received his fair share of criticism under Mourinho since the 2016/17 season but he has still decided to stay put for the campaign with a means of fighting for a new contract beyond June 2018.

Mourinho has utilised the services of Shaw extensively during the pre-season tour of the United States and the 23-year-old appears certain to start the season opener at left-back with Ashley Young still on a vacation.

United have received a boost with Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford reporting three days in advance for first-team duty but the likes of Paul Pogba, Ashley Young and Jesse Lingard have yet to replicate the same.
