In a move that seems to have caught many in the English press by surprise, Bayern Munich have agreed to sell midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger to United this Summer – according to the latest reports.
News of the deal broke in Germany last night and has been confirmed by leading newspaper Bild.
The Mirror notes: Bild report the Red Devils have finally struck a deal for the German World Cup winner for a fee believed to be in the region of £15million.
Schweinsteiger is understood to have thrashed out a three-year contract with the Old Trafford outfit.
With United’s pursuit of Morgan Schneiderlin dominating the headlines, many in the media were surprised to learn that the Reds had also been moving for a deal with German star Schweinsteiger. The 30 year old certainly has the top level experience United need to bolster the midfield and although the question of age may be one the manager has to face once the transfer is announced – it’s difficult to see how any Reds could doubt the wisdom in signing such a talent.
