France international Anthony Martial is set to finalise a five-year contract with Manchester United in the belief that he can outlast current head coach Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.
The 22-year-old saw a break in his relationship with Mourinho during the backend of last season and this has further deteriorated this term with him being left out of the matchday squad altogether for the Spurs game.
Despite this, a report from The Times suggests that the Frenchman will agree upon a fresh five-year contract with the Red Devils with the belief that Mourinho would be sacked sooner rather than later.
Mourinho presently finds himself under immense pressure after witnessing the club lose two of their opening three Premier League matches – the first time it has happened for the side since the 1992/93 season.
As a result, the Portuguese has no room for another poor showing from the team and a defeat at Burnley this weekend would surely urge Ed Woodward and the board to seriously consider his position.
Mourinho is expected to make numerous changes for the upcoming trip to Burnley and Martial and Eric Bailly could be among those returning to the squad after being axed for the Monday night showdown versus Spurs.
