Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has delivered a positive injury update ahead of the derby against Manchester City on Saturday evening.
United have suffered recurring injuries in the midfield and defensive departments over the course of the campaign, but the squad is now up to near full strength.
Speaking to MUTV, Mourinho confirmed that every player aside from Sergio Romero is back to first-team training, and this includes Daley Blind, who has not featured since January with an ankle problem.
He said: “Everybody is coming back but Sergio [Romero] is injured. It’s been a good week. I would say a normal week – no midweek match or Champions League for us, so more time to train. But a good normal week I would call it.”
Pep Guardiola is likely to make notable changes in the starting lineup as City look to overcome a 3-0 Champions League quarter-final deficit to Liverpool, and this may play into United’s hands.
Nevertheless, United can expect a strong line-up which may involve John Stones, Fabian Delph, Danilo, Bernardo Silva and Raheem Sterling – all of whom were non-starters during the European outing in midweek.
Mourinho has tended to opt for a defensive approach whilst taking any of the top-six on the road, but the fans will hope that United play with some kind of aggression in order to deny City the title.
