Good news as Man United receive key injury boost for the FA Cup final

Manchester United are likely to have Alexis Sanchez back in their ranks ahead of the FA Cup final against Chelsea on May 19. The Chilean missed United’s league defeat to Brighton with somewhat of a mystery injury but it does not seem to be serious.

According to Metro, the Chilean was taking free-kicks with relative ease during the training session on Tuesday but he is not expected to be risked for the midweek Premier League meeting against West Ham United.

As such, Sanchez could make an appearance during the certain closer versus Watford on Sunday before featuring in the FA Cup final at Wembley, where he has an excellent scoring record of eight goals in eight appearances.

United boss Jose Mourinho was far from pleased with the performances of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford during last week’s league defeat at Brighton and Sanchez’s recovery should provide a timely boost.

Romelu Lukaku is also nursing his ankle problem in Belgium but Mourinho remains hopeful of fielding the marksman from the starting lineup against his former employers.

Manchester United are currently second in the Premier League standings with 77 points and they require a solitary point from the remaining two fixtures to secure the runner-up spot.
