How can you not be excited by this United star’s future?

Manchester United new boy Memphis Depay hasn’t pulled on a United shirt yet but already has fans salivating at the prospect of how far he could go.

United confirmed that a deal had been agreed to sign the 21 year old at the start of the month and since he has teased us with flashes of brilliance as he continued to dominate the Eredivisie despite completing his big money move, and once the season had ended he took to Instagram to show that he was working hard in the gym to ensure that he got off to a flier at Old Trafford when he final arrives at United.

A number of Dutch footballing greats have come out to endorse the signing and talk up Depay but none will excite United fans like Marco Van Basten.

One of the greatest attacking players of his era, Van Basten’s place amongst football’s greats was confirmed a long time ago and he feels that Depay can join him amongst them:

“He’s a special talent. He’s better than the rest.

“He’s a very good player. He’s a young star who is strong and has his own ideas, which I think is a good thing for a player.

“He’s also a guy who still wants to learn and he’s in good hands with Louis van Gaal who has already worked with him at the World Cup.

“He now has to demonstrate that he can also play well in England. He will show that to you. I don’t know whether it will be quick and come in the first year but he has the skills to succeed in England.”
