Manchester United will have to collide against Premier League champions, Manchester City, after the international break.
It will be intriguing to see how the Red Devils will line up against the high flying Sky Blues. Will they be able stop Erling Haaland?
So far, Manchester United results have been inconsistent. Erik ten Hag’s men lost the opening two league games of the season to Brighton and Brentford respectively and then bounced back and won four PL games on the trot.
However, the Old Trafford outfit started their European campaign with a home defeat against Spanish side Real Sociedad and just before the international break, they defeated Sheriff in the Europa League.
To stop Haaland, United need their best central defensive duo of Varane and Martinez, who have been brilliant so far. In the presence of skipper, Maguire, the backline has been shaky.
So, we can expect Varane and Martinez to feature vs Man City in front of De Gea, moreover, Dalot and Malacia should start in the fullback positions.
World class, Casemiro, is yet to make his debut start in the Premier League. The Brazilian international has been given time to settle since moving from Real Madrid and I think that he must start against the Sky Blues. The Samba star could partner Eriksen in the central midfield.
In the attack, Fernandes will likely retain the captain’s armband and his preferred No.10 spot in the lineup. The likes of Sancho and Antony would start on the flanks.
Ronaldo scored his first goal of the campaign in the last game vs Sheriff but Rashford is the main who has mainly started and excelled in the Premier League.
Therefore, the England international should retain his CF position in the squad when the PL returns after the international break.
Man Utd predicted lineup vs Man City: De Gea; Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Malacia; Casemiro, Eriksen; Antony, Fernandes, Sancho; Rashford.
