Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is likely to be monitored closely by the medical staff after he picked up a muscle strain during Saturday’s 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town. The 20-year-old came on for a cameo appearance in the 71st minute of the game, and he carried on for the remainder of the clash, despite feeling a strain on his left leg.
According to ESPN, United’s medical staff will keep the attacker under close supervision over the week in order to find out the extent of the minor injury. Rashford managed to complete the game without much discomfort, and the issue should probably be short-term, which may restrict him from an appearance.
The young forward has not started a Premier League match for Manchester United since Boxing Day, but he has nevertheless remained ever-present in the United team, having featured in every game for the club this season.
With the arrival of Alexis Sanchez, Rashford has been curtailed to a regular role off the bench in the Premier League, but he still remains an influential player in the club’s ranks, having amassed over 100 appearances in his short career to date.
Manchester United travel to St James Park for this weekend’s Premier League outing, and the fans will be hoping that Rashford makes the match-day squad in order to maintain his unique appearance record.
