Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba could reportedly make his injury comeback when the Red Devils host Newcastle United on November 18. The France international has not featured for Jose Mourinho’s men since mid-September, where he pulled his hamstring in the Champions League opener versus Basel.
According to The Star, Jose Mourinho is hopeful of having Pogba for the Magpies game after having made good progress from his muscular problem. The Frenchman is expected to link up with his teammates for first-team training in the week ahead, and the 24-year-old could make a cameo appearance against the Magpies.
With a key derby against Manchester City coming up in December, it is suggested that Mourinho could restrict Pogba to a regular appearance from the bench in preparation to face their cross-town rivals. The Frenchman’s absence has coincided with United’s drastic dip in form, and the club are currently on a run of just one victory in four top-flight games.
Pogba has the ability to create space for his forwards by making runs towards the penalty box, and this was quite effective in the early part of the season, where the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Henrikh Mkhitaryan contributed significantly to the club’s success.
The pair have played in their shadows since the start of October, but the introduction of Pogba later in the month could provide the added motivation for Lukaku, in particular, who is on a seven-match goalless streak.
