Good news: Key Manchester United player could now feature in Champions League against Sevilla

With Manchester United defender Eric Bailly set to return to training, the 23-year-old, who has been out of action since November with an ankle injury, could now feature in the Champions League against Sevilla on February 21.

Bailly joined United from Villarreal in 2016 and has made 48 appearances in all competitions. The Ivorian international has only played in eight Premier League games and two in the Champions League this season, but Jose Mourinho has had to make do with his absence.

Chris Smalling and Phil Jones have started alongside each other at the heart of the defence, coupled with the odd appearance from Victor Lindelof, Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind. But results haven’t been good without Bailly of late, with United suffering two defeats from their last three games.

The Ivorian’s potential return for the meeting with Sevilla is a major boost. He’s been a key player since his move and should have a few days in training before the European fixture. His lack of game time in recent months might be a worry for Mourinho, but with Smalling and Jones having struggled in defence of late, a change might be required regardless.
