Injury News: Jose Mourinho confirms two absentees for Crystal Palace game

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has provided an injury update on his players ahead of the Premier League clash against Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking at his press conference on Friday, the manager confirmed that both Michael Carrick and Phil Jones are ruled out for the Eagles game with the latter suffering from an ankle injury.

He said: “They [Carrick and Jones] are out. They were out and tomorrow some will be out. What I’m saying is that from all the injuries we had, I hope that I can have some players available for tomorrow.”

Meanwhile, Mourinho provided no update on the extent of Paul Pogba’s hamstring injury, although he admitted that the Frenchman is out for the ‘long-term’ alongside Marcos Rojo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Ander Herrera played alongside Nemanja Matic in midfield during the 4-1 win over CSKA Moscow, and the Spaniard looks set to retain his place  – with Marouane Fellaini still recovering from his ankle knock.

The injury to Jones could also tempt Mourinho to stick with the three-at-the-back formation, which could potentially hand Victor Lindelof his Premier League debut.

Apart from that, Mourinho did not provide an update on the knock sustained by Anthony Martial, but the Frenchman is likely to make the matchday squad for the last outing before the break.
