Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has provided an injury update ahead of Saturday’s early Premier League kick-off at Liverpool. The Red Devils were hampered by a few injury concerns during the international break, but the manager has confirmed all is well with most of his players.
Speaking ahead of the Reds game, the gaffer revealed that skipper Michael Carrick is still on the sidelines with an injury sustained prior to the international break. However, there is positive news regarding Romelu Lukaku, who has returned to full fitness following an ankle injury scare with Belgium.
Mourinho told reporters: Michael Carrick? I know he cannot play, I know that. Lukaku looks fine and that’s it.”
The Portuguese tactician provided no update on Marouane Fellaini, although the Belgium FA confirmed earlier in the week that the midfielder could miss upto two weeks with a knee sprain.
Phil Jones was also sent back from the England training camp with a knee injury, but it appears that his return was more as a precaution in order to prepare himself for the upcoming set of fixtures.
Paul Pogba has recently begun light training following a muscle problem incurred last month, and as per The Independent, he could make a surprise comeback for the crunch encounter against Tottenham Hotspur near the end of the month.
