Injury update: Six Manchester United players to miss Brighton game

Manchester United are expected to be without six first-team players for this weekend’s Premier League outing at Brighton & Hove Albion. United picked up a hard-fought 2-1 triumph over Leicester City during the season opener on August 10 but the start has been far from ideal with a couple of regular starters on the sidelines.

In a report covered by United’s official website, Mourinho confirmed there is no positive news on the injury front and the squad could remain the same from the previous campaign barring Jesse Lingard, who is likely to make the trip after building up his fitness.

In this case, Sergio Romero, Diogo Dalot (both knee), Nemanja Matic (abdominal) and Marcos Rojo (knock) are among the players, who have played no part since the start of pre-season whilst Antonio Valencia (calf) and Ander Herrera (hamstring) have become casualties during the friendlies leading up to the new campaign.

United were not fluent by any means during the curtain raiser against the Foxes but the performance should be much better at Brighton with several of the World Cup-based players expected to start from the off.

Romelu Lukaku, in particular, only made a cameo appearance versus the Foxes, where he was guilty of missing a clear-cut scoring chance, but the Belgian should lead the line after Marcus Rashford struggled to impress.
