Inter prepared to sell £49 million winger on one condition

Inter Milan is desperate to keep Ivan Perisic at San Siro amid Manchester United’s interest but could demand a loan deal for Anthony Martial as part of transfer package.

Manchester United are chasing Perisic for the last few weeks, but Inter is reluctant to sell. However, they will consider the offer for the Croatian winger if Martial goes the other way as a direct replacement for the 28-year-old.

Perisic would likely become a starter at Old Trafford which could mean reduced playing time for Martial, so the potential loan deal to San Siro does have sense. Still, Inter and their rich Chinese owners don’t need to sell, and the club’s advisor Walter Sabatini said: “Spalletti has asked not to sell Perisic. He wants Perisic as one of his players because he is fantastic. Inter wouldn’t like to sell him but at the same time the club doesn’t want to have an unhappy player.”

“One thing is certain – the price of our players will be set by Inter Milan. We hope Perisic will stay but we will know more in the next day. If Perisic will leave, we want money and a player and we expect Perisic over these next days will show good behavior,” Sabatini concluded.

Jose Mourinho publicly criticized Martial’s performances on several occasions and could let him go but he is short of forwards at Old Trafford, so it’s still unclear whether the Portuguese will accept Inter’s demands. Inter are also interested in signing Matteo Darmian, but Mourinho is determined to keep the right-back at the club.
