Manchester United favourite Eric Cantona revealed his admiration for manager Jose Mourinho despite the criticism surrounding the Portuguese’s style of management.
The 55-year-old’s tactical decisions have come under scrutiny over the course of the season with a section of fans wanting the Portuguese make the team play the United way.
Despite this, Cantona has outlined his love for the manager, who guided United to a League Cup and Europa League double last season.
He told SFR Sport: “I love Mourinho. He has proven himself capable of winning major competitions and titles for over ten years. Mourinho will continue to win games because he’s a strategist. His style is more defensive, but he does it beautifully.”
Mourinho has devised a cautious approach whilst facing the top teams this term, but this has proved dividends especially at Old Trafford, where they have beaten the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs.
The lack on intensity upfront has been a disappointment for supporters, who have witnessed the glorious era under Sir Alex Ferguson, but Mourinho has certainly found his very own style of management which has provided success.
United are on course for their best-ever finish in the Premier League since the 2012/13 season, and the campaign can be termed as a success with FA Cup success remaining a possibility next month.
