28-year-old winger will become Manchester United’s third summer signing— Claims Italian journalist

Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri claims that Manchester United are still in pole position to sign Inter Milan midfielder Ivan Perisic this summer. The Croatia international has been pursued by the Red Devils since the end of last season, but the club have failed to negotiate a transfer fee with the Nerazzurri.

Perisic is currently with Inter Milan on their pre-season tour of China and Singapore but transfer guru Palmeri feels that an agreement could still be reached between both clubs, he told The Express:

“If I had to bet, I think Perisic will move to Manchester United this summer. For Perisic, it’s been uncomfortable. Inter don’t have as much to offer to be competitive as Manchester United, which means it’s unlikely he will stay.”

The attacker stood out with his performances for Inter Milan last term with 11 goals and eight assists, but they still failed to secure European football as their form dipped in the backend of the campaign.

Perisic amassed a total of 197 crosses in the Italian top-flight last season, and he could be seen as the perfect fit for Lukaku, who can offer a significant aerial threat in the box.

Manchester United have fallen short of the Nerazzurri’s £48m valuation this summer, but Ed Woodward is expected to intensify the club’s pursuit with Mourinho desperate to get his hands on a third recruit as soon as possible.
