Manchester United could reportedly go head-to-head with Paris Saint Germain in the race to sign AC Milan defensive duo Leonardo Bonucci and Alessio Romagnoli this summer.

United boss Jose Mourinho has placed his emphasis on pursuing another centre-back before the transfer deadline as he is not entirely satisfied with his current options at hand.

As such, there have been plenty of players associated with the club and Corriere dello Sport via Calciomercato claims that United could make a move for a couple of Milan-based players.

As per the publication, both United and Paris Saint-Germain are said to have expressed an interest in signing Bonucci and Romagnoli amid the ongoing financial concerns at the Rossoneri.

Milan currently find themselves in a dire financial situation after being punished by UEFA for failing to meet the Financial Fair Play requirements and this may witness the sale of some of their existing recruits.

Both Bonucci and Romagnoli who are valued at £53million and £31million, have been linked with potential exits from San Siro this summer and United may take advantage of Milan’s predicament to lure at least one of the Italy internationals.

Among the pair, Romagnoli recently committed his future to Milan until the summer of 2022 and the Rossoneri are likely to command a higher sum for the 23-year-old when compared to his experienced compatriot.
