According to El Gol Digital, Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez has ‘received a call from Jose Mourinho’, the Manchester United manager, about moving to Old Trafford this summer. James has been linked with United for many years, but a deal wouldn’t be straight-forward for a number of reasons.
The 26-year-old joined Bayern Munich on loan for two seasons last summer and could become a permanent transfer in 2019, as per the terms of the deal. However, he’s reportedly been in talks with United over a move to Manchester which has irked Real.
James was a target for the Red Devils before he opted to join Bayern and it appears they’re not giving up trying to land their man. His future at Real is uncertain as he’s struggled for playing time since moving to the Santiago Bernabéu in 2014, but Bayern’s interest could prove a stumbling block for United.
The German giants have the option to sign the Colombian international on a permanent deal for £37m, but United could hijack the move if Bayern don’t meet the asking price or agree personal terms with the playmaker. James has been in fantastic form this season, scoring and creating 20 goals in 36 games in all competitions, but United are in the race for his signature.
