Jamie Carragher perfectly explains what will cost Manchester United the title this season

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has stated that if Manchester United do not improve their form away from home against the big teams, they will lose out in the title race.

Manchester United have certainly made a fine start to their Premier League campaign this term but they came under a lot of criticism following the drab 0-0 draw against Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.

United boss Jose Mourinho clearly set up his team to claim a point from the encounter and although the Red Devils were successful in doing so, not many were left impressed.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher did not have any problem with United playing the way that they did on the day but he warned Jose Mourinho that the Red Devils’ inability to pick up wins during away games against the top teams could cost them the Premier League title this season.

Carragher said, “First of all I should say I had no problem whatsoever with what Jose Mourinho did. He’s always done it and I expected it before the game.

“Jurgen Klopp said afterwards that Liverpool could never play like that; well maybe his Liverpool could never play like that, but my Liverpool did and we did it plenty of times and got results on the back of it.

“I think the criticism will be saved until the end of the season if results in big away games don’t improve and it costs Manchester United the title.”

Jose Mourinho’s only points in his last 10 away games against the top 6 Premier League opposition have come in goalless draws and United perhaps need to show more ambition in order to claim a better return of points on the road against the elite teams in the division.
