Jesse Lingard Names Ronaldo as an Ideal Person

Cristiano Ronaldo is the most popular athlete on the planet, evidence being that his Instagram account has over 300 million followers – more than any other sportsperson in the world.

He’s also very popular among his new teammates at Old Trafford. In fact, Jesse Lingard has recently revealed CR7 would be his choice if he had the opportunity to be another person for a day.

“If I could…be one person for a day, it would be… Ronaldo. Cristiano. I just want to see his day-to-day life. I want to see what he eats, what he drinks, the way he trains.”

Lingard, who is eight years Ronaldo’s junior, has been a life-long fan of Manchester United, where he joined in 2011, two years after the Portuguese superstar moved to Real Madrid.

Fast-forward to 2021 and “JLingz” is now playing alongside his boyhood hero. Football, however, isn’t the only reason why Lingard loves the GOAT candidate. It’s also because the two share a passion for esports.

Lingard and Ronaldo Share the Same Passion for Esports

Cristiano Ronaldo got himself involved recently within the esports industry, a growing market that is about to reach $1B by the end of 2021. Last fall, he became Free Fire’s global brand ambassador, a multiplayer battle royale game launched in December 2020.

One of the playable characters in the aforementioned game is based on Cristiano Ronaldo. The character’s name is Chrono, an alien bounty hunter.

Lingard is a self-professed esports aficionado, who’s game of choice seems to be Rainbow Six Siege. Evidence of this is that the English midfielder now has his own esports team specializing in this particular game.

Teaming up with Ronaldo in the virtual world might be exactly what Lingard’s esports team needs. At least, that’s according to what we’ve seen in the real world – the two have been sensational for Manchester United since the start of the season.

In fact, last weekend, Ronaldo and Lingard scored a goal each thus taking The Reds to a win over West Ham.

Manchester United Played Last Game vs Lingard’s Former Club

In Round 5 of the 2021-22 season of the Premier League, we saw Manchester United getting their fourth win of the season. It happened in London, at packed Olympic Stadium. About 60,000 were in the stands during that game, most of whom supported the home side.

With the fans cheering them on, the Hammers got themselves an early lead, which was annulled by Ronaldo five minutes later.

Then, just one minute before the end of the regular 90 minutes, Jesse Lingard made it 2-1 Man United, silencing the entire stadium. Lingard scored against his former club, where he played last season as a loanee.

An even bigger disappointment for West Ham fans followed a few minutes later. Literally just a couple of seconds before the referee’s final whistle, the Hammers had a chance to equalize from a penalty kick. Unfortunately for them, their skipper Mark Noble missed the shot.
