It was only during the interim stint of Ruud van Nistelrooy that the Red Devils showed some kind of goalscoring form, mostly due to Bruno Fernandes showing a sudden upturn in form and finding the back of the net consistently.

Thus, one major area for the English giants have to address this January transfer window, if they can, will be signing a striker who can find the back of the net consistently.
As per The Mirror, despite the need for a striker, Amorim will not push to sign £80m-rated Viktor Gyokeres for Man Utd from Sporting CP due to making a promise not to sign any player from his former club until at the very least, next summer.
However, contrasting to the previous report, as per today’s edition of Jornal de Noticias also known as JN, Manchester United moving to sign the 26-year-old striker in the coming weeks cannot be ruled out, with other European giants also keeping their eye on the situation.
The issue however is that they might have to make room for a new striker, considering they already have both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee in the squad. Despite arriving just in the recent summer, the latter might be sacrificed.
Gyokeres has been in incredible form for quite some time at the Portuguese club.
The Swedish striker finished 2024 as the leading goal scorer, netting 62 goals in 63 appearances, and has started 2025 off with a hat-trick against Vitoria in the Liga Nos.
The biggest advantage with Viktor Gyokeres is that he already knows what Amorim would expect of him at Man Utd and this could help eliminate a period of adaptation for the player.
