Joey Barton: This is why Manchester United will win the Premier League title

TalkSPORT pundit Joey Barton fancies Manchester United beating Manchester City to the Premier League title this season. The former Burnley midfielder believes the Red Devils have better players to cope with the cold weather and fixture congestion in the crunch part of the campaign.

Jose Mourinho’s side have made a strong start to the season with 16 points from their six games, and they are only behind leaders Manchester City on goal difference. Speaking on TalkSPORT, Barton feels that United have the advantage in the title race as the players have the better physicality to suit the demands of a long Premier League season.

He told TalkSPORT, h/t The Express: “I do (fancy United). I do mainly because the manager is a serial winner, he knows how to win.  Also I think when the cold weather comes and the fixture congestion comes, I think Manchester United have got the physicality to deal with it.  If you remember last year City started like a house on fire and then the cold snap comes in. Them South Americans, I’m not too sure they like it when it gets cold here.”

Manchester United make the long trip to Russia to take on CSKA Moscow in a Champions League game on Wednesday night, and Jose Mourinho is likely to rotate his defensive options with a view to keeping his players fresh for the Crystal Palace clash this weekend.

Paul Pogba and Marouane Fellaini are among the key players missing for the midweek trip, but the latter is likely to recover from his ankle knock for the Eagles encounter on Saturday.
