Jones and Lukaku start, 4-2-3-1: Strongest Manchester United XI to face Southampton

Manchester United will seek to return to winning ways when they face-off against Southampton on Saturday. The Red Devils have drawn back-to-back games in the Premier League by a 2-2 scoreline, and Jose Mourinho is likely to demand more from his frontline, which has genuinely misfired in those games.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Lineup:

David de Gea has attained 10 clean sheets during the current campaign, and he would dearly want to add to his tally after conceding four goals in the last two outings. He is certain to start in goal.

In defence, Victor Lindelof could be brought on to partner Phil Jones at centre-back with Marcos Rojo looking short of match fitness. Ashley Young should keep his place at right-back with Luke Shaw on the left side of the backline.

Paul Pogba has not contributed to the team’s success since his return from a domestic suspension, and he will be eager to make amends from central midfield, where he is likely to partner Nemanja Matic.

Further forward, Juan Mata had an average game versus Burnley, we are nevertheless backing him to start on the right wing with Anthony Martial on the left, whilst Jesse Lingard should come in for Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the number 10 spot.

Romelu Lukaku was once again at fault for his poor defending, and Mourinho may need to keep the Belgian away from opposition set-pieces. He is pretty much assured of his place, having contributed a goal in every other league game.
