Manchester United return to Premier League duties this weekend with an away trip to Huddersfield Town. The Terriers have not faced United since their last top-flight season back in 1971/72, and Jose Mourinho will be determined to secure a solid victory at the John Smith’s Stadium.
David de Gea has been ever-present in the Premier League and Champions League outings this term, and he is certain to start his ninth league game on the trot. The right-back duties and left-back duties could be allotted to Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young respectively, although the latter played in a wide attacking role against Liverpool. Phil Jones is likely to overcome another minor knock to make the starting lineup, and he could be accompanied by Chris Smalling in central defence.
Marouane Fellaini is still a few weeks away from a potential comeback. and United are certain to rely on Ander Herrera to fulfil the central midfield duties alongside the ever-impressive Nemanja Matic.
The attack front could also see familiar faces with Juan Mata and Henrikh Mkhitaryan occupying the right wing and the number 10 role respectively while Marcus Rashford could get the nod over Anthony Martial on the left flank. Martial has not made much of an impression while starting for United, and Rashford is the better choice to provide a cutting edge to the attacking play.
Romelu Lukaku has been one of the ever-presents in league and Europe, and he will be hoping to cease his recent goal drought. The Belgian striker has not added to his 11 goals since the international break after failing to score against both Liverpool and Benfica.
