Jorginho’s agent delivers fresh update on Manchester United interest

The representative of Jorginho has revealed that there has been no contact with Manchester United regarding a potential transfer at the end of the season. The Italy international has been earmarked as the one of the prime targets as United seek to overcome Michael Carrick’s retirement and Marouane Fellaini’s potential departure from Old Trafford.

In an interview with Radio Crc, via M.E.N, agent Joao Santos stressed that his client is focused on doing well for club and country for the rest of the season. When further quizzed on the United interest, he added that there has been no communication line with either him or Napoli.

“As a player for one of the most important national teams, and a club fighting for the Scudetto, it’s clear he’ll be looked at by these clubs. I’ve spoken with [Napoli sporting director Cristiano] Giuntoli three times in recent months, he hasn’t told me anything, but I haven’t had any contact with United,” he said.

United have utilised Carrick sparingly this term following his heart procedure, and his presence on the field is likely to be sorely missed for the 2018/19 season and beyond. With this in mind, United appear to be on the hunt for a player with strong ball distribution skills, and this is where Jorginho has propped up the radar.

The Brazilian-born midfielder is, however, not the sole player on the United shortlist with Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fred and Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic also considered as probable options, who can slot into holding role alongside Nemanja Matic, typically in a 4-3-3 formation to include Paul Pogba.
