According to The Sun, Jose Mourinho is keen to land the Spurs defender but knows he must persuade the board to spend at least £50million to sign him. Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly grown frustrated with Ed Woodward after he declined the prospect of signing Tottenham Hotspur’s Danny Rose this month. The England international has been in-and-out of the Spurs lineup since his public comment over the club’s transfer and wage policy.

Yesterday’s report from The Mirror covers that Mourinho is not pleased with the work of executive vice-chairman Woodward, who has deemed Rose expensive for the winter transfer window. The former Leeds United man has previously revealed his ambition to return north with a big-club, but Woodward has urged the manager to wait until the summer for a proposed move.

The left-back position has been of concern this campaign with the likes of Luke Shaw, Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind struggling to impress. Ashley Young has been the pick of the players in the position, but the club are wary of a burn-out for the Englishman, who is approaching the latter years of his career.

Rose has been impressive whenever he has featured for Spurs this campaign, but a move at this period looks doubtful with the north London side confirming that the left-back has suffered a recurrence of his knee problem. Meanwhile, a separate report suggests that United have a £35m deal in place for Napoli’s Faouzi Ghoulam, though the Algerian is currently recuperating from an ACL problem.
